Geberit Silent-db20
Address drainage noise throughout the installation.
Geberit Silent-db20 is an acoustic drainage system made of PE-S2, a mineral-reinforced polyethylene. It is intended for projects where noise from stacks and branches needs particular attention, including homes, hotel bedrooms and rooms next to service shafts.
Separate airborne and structure-borne noise
Flow can generate sound in the air and transmit vibration through brackets or rigid contact with the building. Silent-db20's material mass and fitting design contribute to noise reduction. They must be accompanied by a suitable route, support arrangement and treatment of the service shaft to form a coherent acoustic installation.
Assess a complete configuration
Published acoustic performance refers to a particular installation and test conditions. It does not guarantee the same sound level in every room. Compare flow rate, wall construction, brackets, routing and the receiving room's location. Define the building's acoustic target before selecting components or interpreting a manufacturer's measured result.
Check dimensions and transitions
Silent-db20 and Geberit HDPE do not always have the same outside diameter for a given DN. Silent-db20 DN 125 is d135, whereas Geberit HDPE DN 125 is d125. Specify suitable transition fittings. Matching nominal sizes alone does not establish that two components can be directly joined.
Pay attention to installation details
Plan permitted joints, expansion, penetrations and any insulation required by the configuration. Avoid unintended rigid contact between the pipe and the structure. Identify changes of direction, which are often acoustically sensitive, and retain access for cleaning. Near a bedroom, coordinate acoustic treatment with fire protection and maintenance requirements.

Silent-db20 is a product range name; it does not mean every installation will measure 20 dB. Performance depends on the full assembly and assessment conditions.

Frequently asked questions
Are Silent-db20 and Silent-PP the same system?
No. Silent-db20 uses PE-S2; Silent-PP is a separate polypropylene system. Their fittings, joining methods and intended uses must be assessed separately.
Will the pipe alone make a stack silent?
No. Brackets, walls, contact with the building, fittings and flows influence the result. Acoustic selection must consider the complete installation.
Can Silent-db20 connect to Geberit HDPE?
Transitions are possible with appropriate components. Check outside diameters and permitted connection methods for each reference, especially around DN 125.
