A floor that appears to continue from bedroom to bathroom gives the en-suite a flowing appearance. This continuity can rest on a colour or material family without requiring the same product everywhere. Connect the atmospheres while respecting the uses of each space.
01
Choose the level of continuity required
You can retain the same pattern, the same colour or simply a similar brightness. These approaches do not imply the same choices. Mineral ceramic in the bathroom can relate to bedroom timber without trying to imitate it.
Look at the floors from the passage between rooms. The transition should work from that perspective, where both surfaces appear together. Skirting thickness, doors and furniture also contribute to perceived continuity.
02
Adapt the finish to wet areas
A collection may offer several finishes for one appearance. Check the product's suitability for the shower zone, remaining bathroom and bedroom. Tile properties cannot be inferred from colour or collection name.
Decorative continuity removes neither substrate preparation nor the measures needed for water management. Falls, waterproofing and junction details must be studied by project professionals for the chosen system.
03
Draw the threshold as a genuine detail
The passage between rooms requires decisions on finished levels, joints and material changes. A discreet threshold is possible when planned. Discovering a thickness difference during installation often leads to a more visible junction than expected.
Tile layout can extend some lines, but room dimensions do not always permit complete alignment. Choose the main axis to preserve. Necessary joints should be integrated into the design, not eliminated to obtain a continuous image.
04
Connect metals and light as well
From the bedroom, strongly contrasting taps can become a focal point. Decide whether they should appear as an object or blend into the atmosphere. Compare their finish with handles, lighting and metal elements elsewhere in the suite.
A Geberit plate visible in the same perspective deserves equal attention. A restrained surface can limit visual breaks. Bathroom lighting should also remain pleasant from the bedroom, especially during night-time use.
Before you decide
- Choose what remains continuous: appearance, colour or lines.
- Validate finishes by zone.
- Coordinate levels and thresholds.
- Compare metals from the bedroom.
The essentials
Your questions, our guidance.
Must the exact same tile be used throughout the suite?
No. A common colour or design can establish coherence with finishes suited to each space's use.
Can every joint be removed for a continuous effect?
No. Joints required by the installation system must remain. Their position and colour can be integrated into the decorative project.
