A ceramic basin can be the right width yet still be unsuitable for the chosen tap or waste. The decisive details appear in the data sheet for its particular variant. Before ordering Geberit products through EDIFIS, check three interfaces together: the tap holes, the overflow system and the basin waste.
01
Read the variant, not just the collection name
The Geberit Smyle catalogue distinguishes basins with a central tap hole from variants without one. This choice determines where the tap can be installed. A collection photograph therefore cannot replace the exact product specification.
Mark the number and position of the holes on the drawing, followed by the tap’s fixing arrangement. For a basin without a tap hole, investigate a wall-mounted or worktop-mounted solution using the relevant documents. Do not plan to improvise a hole in the ceramic to correct an ordering mistake.
02
Distinguish no visible opening from no overflow
Read the overflow section of the product data. The absence of a visible opening in the bowl does not always describe the entire function: Geberit Clou incorporates a concealed overflow in the compatible configurations specified by the manufacturer.
This does not mean that Clou fits every Geberit basin. Request the documented combination for the chosen ceramic and a list of required components. This check prevents the smooth appearance of the bowl from becoming the sole basis for choosing the waste.
03
Choose the waste for the intended operation
A closable waste and a free-flow waste serve different purposes. Geberit offers free-flow wastes for basins without an overflow, among other products. The ability to close the outlet must remain consistent with the complete system.
Compare the waste geometry, seals, permitted material thickness and connections in the instructions. A chrome finish matching the tap does not establish compatibility. Have the operating mechanism and access checked, especially where a lift rod needs to pass behind the mixer.
04
Prepare an order without missing parts
List the basin, tap, waste, connecting fittings and trap on one sheet. Distinguish included parts from those ordered separately. The decorative cover visible in a photograph may have its own product reference.
Present this information to EDIFIS to check the proposed references and lead times in Tunisia. Manufacturer catalogue examples explain the options without implying local availability. At handover, ask the installer to check drainage, operation and watertightness across the assembly.
Before you decide
- Record the basin’s complete product reference.
- Confirm the tap holes and overflow system.
- Have the waste and its seals checked.
- Identify every included or separate component.
The essentials
Your questions, our guidance.
Does a basin without a tap hole also have no overflow?
No. These are separate characteristics that must be read individually in the exact product data sheet.
Can I choose any waste in the same colour?
No. Its operation, dimensions and connections must suit the basin and its overflow system.
