A jet that loses its shape or regularity does not necessarily mean the mixer needs replacing. The aerator at the spout outlet often merits an initial check. Observation must still be methodical: a local problem and reduced flow throughout a home require different responses.
01
Describe the change before intervening
Note when the problem began and whether it affects cold water, hot water or both. Compare another outlet. A deflected jet at one basin suggests a different investigation from a simultaneous drop at every tap.
Take a photograph or short video and find the mixer reference. These details help if cleaning is insufficient. Avoid changing several components at once, which makes it harder to understand what has changed.
02
Find the intended removal method
Aerators do not all use the same fixing. Some require a specific tool; others have an accessible mechanism described by the manufacturer. Do not grip the finished spout with pliers to force removal.
The hansgrohe FAQ identifies a blocked or scaled aerator as one possible cause of low flow. Consult the instructions for your reference before intervening. Keep removed parts in order and protect the drain against losing small components.
03
Clean without changing the function
Use only the method and product compatible with the aerator and finish. Follow the stated contact time, rinsing and reassembly procedure. Overly aggressive mechanical or chemical treatment can damage parts that shape the jet.
Do not remove a flow limiter simply to increase flow. It may be part of the product’s design. For replacement, confirm the part against the product reference and production date instead of choosing by appearance alone.
04
Check the result and continue diagnosis
After correct reassembly, check the jet pattern and for leaks around the outlet. If the problem remains, share your observations with EDIFIS or the installer. The supply, a filter or another component may require separate inspection.
For an installation in Tunisia, adjust observation frequency to the actual water and manufacturer guidance. Regular attention is better than a universal timetable. Keep the instructions and spare-part reference with your bathroom documents.
Before you decide
- Compare several water outlets.
- Find the reference and instructions.
- Retain the intended limiter and components.
- Check the jet after reassembly.
The essentials
Your questions, our guidance.
Does low flow prove that the aerator is scaled?
No. It is one possibility, to be checked through observation and the manufacturer’s procedure.
Are all aerators interchangeable?
No. Fixing, dimensions and functions must match the mixer.
