Thermostatic describes a control function, but it does not explain every feature of a product. For a family bathroom, compare the controls, stated protections and operating conditions of the exact reference. A precise selection helps everyone understand how to use the shower and which installation checks are needed.
01
Separate temperature regulation from the control stop
A thermostat adjusts the mix to maintain the selected temperature under the conditions specified by its manufacturer. A stop on the handle is a separate function. It marks a control threshold that may require a deliberate action to exceed.
On relevant hansgrohe references, SafetyStop and CoolContact address different issues: limitation at the control and the behaviour of the mixer body's surface. Do not assume both are included merely from the collection name.
02
Consider the hands using the shower
Check the clarity of markings, handle shape and operation with wet hands. An elegant control that is difficult to grip may complicate everyday use. Its position should also allow the water to be started without immediately standing beneath the spray.
For children or someone needing assistance, product selection should be accompanied by appropriate use and supervision. A handle feature does not replace attention to the temperature felt or the user's ability to respond.
03
Allow for proper commissioning
The installer must check the inlets, supply conditions and adjustment against the instructions for the reference. The handle scale is not an independent measurement of actual water temperature. Commissioning should therefore include an operating check.
Use this opportunity to request a demonstration of the controls. Identify maintenance items and the conditions for intervention. Keep the instructions with the invoice and complete reference, rather than only a photograph of the mixer.
04
Compare equivalent assemblies
Similar-looking shower columns can have different controls, protections and adjustment options. Request a line-by-line comparison of functions, supplied components, configuration and care instructions. Prices should be compared for genuinely equivalent assemblies.
At EDIFIS, a hansgrohe or Deante selection starts with household needs and installation data. Confirm the reference, finish and expected functions before putting them in the quotation. This prevents an aesthetic preference from hiding a meaningful difference in use.
Before you decide
- Identify the protections of the exact reference.
- Try the grip of the controls.
- Have the initial adjustment checked.
- Keep the instructions accessible.
The essentials
Your questions, our guidance.
Do all thermostatic shower columns have a body that stays cool?
No. Check the technology specified for that reference. Thermostatic regulation and body cooling are separate functions.
Does the stop prevent every excessive temperature?
It does not replace correct installation or an operating check. Its purpose and limits are described in the product instructions.
