A towel radiator has a practical role and occupies a visible position in the bathroom. When choosing it, distinguish towel drying from the room's heating requirement. Its position, operating mode and controls should then be coordinated with everyday movements, particularly where space is limited.
01
Start with the room's heat requirement
The apparent size of an appliance is not enough to determine whether it will heat the bathroom adequately. Insulation, openings, walls and use influence demand. Have an appropriate selection calculated rather than applying one universal output per unit of area.
A hydronic model must be compared under the operating conditions intended for that network. An output stated for one temperature regime cannot simply be transferred to another. The exact reference's documentation provides the basis for checking.
02
Choose operation around household habits
An electric appliance and a hydronic model have different supply and control requirements. At EDIFIS, the Zehnder and HJM ranges let you examine these options. Always verify the proposed model's exact operating mode.
Describe when the room should be comfortable and when central heating runs. A programme can be useful when it matches real routines. Compare its readability and how easily a setting can be changed temporarily.
03
Draw access to the towels
Position the radiator together with doors, shower, basin and storage. Rails should be usable without obstructing circulation or making controls hard to reach. Also consider the space needed to insert and remove a large towel.
An asymmetrical shape or side opening changes these movements. Check access direction and fixings for the chosen reference. The finish can then coordinate with other metals while installation and care remain part of the decision.
04
Have the position and installation validated
Positioning in a wet room and connection must be validated by a professional against the instructions and project requirements. A decorative preference should not move an appliance into an area incompatible with its conditions of use.
At handover, request a demonstration of controls and instructions concerning towels, cleaning and clearances. Keep the complete reference and documents. A well-chosen appliance remains simple to use even in a shared bathroom.
Before you decide
- Distinguish room heating from towel drying.
- Compare outputs under the correct conditions.
- Draw access to rails and controls.
- Have wet-room installation validated.
The essentials
Your questions, our guidance.
Does a towel radiator always replace other heating?
No. It depends on heat demand and the reference's useful output under project conditions.
Do two appliances of the same size have the same output?
No. Operation, construction and reference conditions may differ. Compare their technical sheets.
