Concealed shower or exposed column: decide with the project.

Design, renovation, openings and maintenance: compare a concealed shower with an exposed column before choosing products.

A concealed shower has a discreet visual presence. An exposed column makes functions clearer and may simplify some renovations. Neither is automatically superior: the right choice depends on the building work, uses and what can still be changed.

01

In renovation, start with what exists

Locate water supplies, assess walls, drainage and available height. If tiles must be retained, an exposed solution compatible with the installation may limit intervention. However, connection centres and fittings need checking for the chosen model.

If the whole room is being rebuilt, a concealed system becomes easier to study. It still needs appropriate installation depth and wall construction. Manufacturer requirements and the actual support take precedence over the effect shown in an image.

02

Design the gesture before water outlets

Where does the hand go to start the shower? Can the control be reached without immediately getting wet? Is the hand shower accessible while seated? These questions give the layout a purpose.

The overhead shower should suit the receiving area and intended use. A large head does not alone guarantee greater comfort. Check required flow and supply conditions in the technical documentation.

03

Do not multiply functions without checking them

Overhead shower, hand shower and any bath spout are separate functions. The control must match the number of outlets and intended operation. Distinguish selecting one function from using several outlets simultaneously.

Ask the installer to check pressure, available hot water and system requirements. The aim is satisfactory operation in the actual home, rather than accumulating rarely used functions. A simple, well-matched solution often gives the best everyday experience.

04

Prepare ordering and maintenance

For a concealed system, confirm basic components and visible parts. These are not universal across collections or manufacturers. Read pack contents carefully to prevent a missing body or ordering the hand shower twice.

Keep instructions and references after installation. In a hotel, this documentation helps maintenance and spare-parts orders. In a home, it avoids having to identify the complete system again years later.

Before you decide

  1. Survey services and supports.
  2. Choose genuinely useful functions.
  3. Have hydraulic requirements checked.
  4. Confirm every component of the assembly.

The essentials

Your questions, our guidance.

Does a concealed system suit every renovation?

It depends on the wall, available depth and extent of the work. The installation needs assessment.

Can a concealed body and trim from different brands be mixed?

Do not assume so. Use only an expressly compatible, documented combination.
