When choosing between Geberit Duofix and Kombifix, called Combifix in some French-language catalogues, start with how the service wall will be built. Bricks behind the toilet are not enough to decide: a framed installation can also stand in front of a masonry wall. The supporting structure, anchors and complete wall assembly guide the selection.

01

Describe the wall before comparing products

Identify the existing wall, its construction and condition, then describe the future wall in front of the pipework. A load-bearing wall, a partition and a simple lining have different roles. Ask the professional responsible for the work to identify the structures available for the fixings.

Next, specify whether the project uses a frame with panels or masonry construction. This distinction is more useful than separating new builds from renovations. In either case, the choice depends on the construction actually planned and the instructions for the model.

02

Duofix: consider the frame and its anchors together

Geberit presents Duofix as a family of installation elements for drywall construction. Depending on the documented configuration, they can be incorporated into a lightweight partition or a part-height or room-height prewall. The wall system components complete the sanitary installation element.

Duofix is therefore not restricted to buildings without masonry. Geberit also provides fixings for installation in front of solid walls. The term self-supporting does not remove the need to check the floor, anchoring points and components specified for the chosen installation.

03

Kombifix: include the masonry work

The Kombifix family is intended for solid construction, including in front of brick or concrete walls. Geberit documentation requires the elements to be built into the masonry. This work is part of the solution; it involves more than choosing a decorative finish.

Ask who will carry out the fixing, the connections and then the masonry around the element. The plumber and bricklayer need the same drawing. Switching families on site requires the complete assembly to be checked again, even if the cistern looks similar.

04

Compare two complete solutions that can be costed

For each option, list the installation element, fixings, wall components, connections and closing-in work. Also compare the finished depth and the sequence of trades. The frame price alone does not describe the cost of the installed solution.

Bring this information to EDIFIS with photographs and a section drawing of your site in Tunisia. Confirm the proposed product reference, its permitted applications and the components included. The Duofix or Kombifix family name alone does not identify the cistern or the compatible flush plate.

Before you decide

  1. Identify the existing wall and the future wall assembly.
  2. Choose a documented construction method.
  3. List fixings, connections and closing-in work.
  4. Confirm the complete product references with EDIFIS.

The essentials

Your questions, our guidance.

Does a brick wall mean Kombifix must be used?

No. A Duofix solution can also be planned in front of a masonry wall, with the appropriate configuration and fixings.

Can Kombifix be replaced with Duofix without reviewing the plans?

Not automatically. The framing, anchors and closing-in method must suit the new product reference and its instructions.
