Marble effect: orchestrate the veins from wall to basin.

Veining, large slabs and bookmatch: prepare a marble-effect tile composition while keeping junctions coherent.

Marble effect gives a bathroom presence, but its design needs composing. Vein direction, density and interruptions around equipment radically change the result. Start by reading the entire wall before looking at individual slabs.

01

Choose movement before metal colour

Fine, diffuse veining creates a different atmosphere from large contrasting veins. Decide how expressive the wall should be, then consider how much will actually remain visible. Mirrors, furniture and storage can hide the most interesting areas.

Tagina Calacatta Gold illustrates a ceramic interpretation of marble with warm shades. This aesthetic family can guide a palette, but each reference has its own faces. Request images or samples useful for the selected composition.

02

Understand what bookmatch means

Bookmatch produces a mirrored effect between panels intended for that arrangement. Two arbitrary tiles from a veined collection do not automatically create it. Check the available faces and product-specific instructions.

Decide whether the symmetry should centre on the basin, bath or entire wall. An overly demonstrative composition in a small room may dominate everything else. A freer continuity of veins is another option.

03

Draw the cuts crossing the pattern

Position tap outlets, WC flush plate and niches on the covering drawing. A strong vein interrupted in the wrong place may create visual tension. Coordinate equipment with tile layout before fixing service positions.

At corners, check the transition between faces and edge treatment. For clad furniture or basins, have fabrication feasibility and construction details confirmed. Continuity cannot be decided from an image alone.

04

Give the veined wall some breathing space

Restrained taps can let the marble take the leading role. If selecting warm metal, compare it with the veins without forcing an artificial match. Similar shades should look intentional even when materials reflect light differently.

On other surfaces, a plain tone or less contrasting mineral effect can balance the room. A Geberit plate can stay discreet or repeat the basin's metal. Avoid another dominant pattern on the same wall.

Before you decide

  1. Choose the intensity of the veining.
  2. Check the faces intended for bookmatch.
  3. Locate openings on the design.
  4. Preserve a calmer surface in the room.

The essentials

Your questions, our guidance.

Do all large marble-effect tiles allow bookmatching?

No. A suitable combination of faces must be confirmed for the reference. Large format alone does not guarantee the effect.

Are gold taps necessary with gold veins?

No. Chrome or a dark metal can also work. Compare proportions and reflections across the whole composition.
