Stainless steel remains part of contemporary kitchens, but two silver-coloured sinks do not behave identically in use. Deante’s July 2026 comparison highlights material and surface treatment. Useful comparisons should also consider the sink’s construction and how the tap is supported.
01
Read the specification instead of judging by weight
Ask for the characteristics declared for the exact reference: material, finish and construction features. Total weight also depends on dimensions and equipment; it is not a reliable ranking by itself. Do not guess an undocumented thickness.
When comparing quotations, use the same bowl and installation configuration. A large bowl and a compact model do not behave in the same way. Ask about reinforcement and installation conditions rather than reducing the choice to one isolated value.
02
Examine the grain under kitchen lighting
Brushed, satin or textured surfaces reflect light differently. Look at a sample beside the window and under worktop lighting. Grain can make some signs of use more or less visible without making the sink impossible to scratch.
Also compare the metal with the mixer and waste. Stainless steel can describe a sink’s material and the appearance of another fitting’s finish. Do not assume that all elements carrying that wording have identical colours.
03
Observe the tap mounting area
A tall or pull-out tap places forces on its mounting area during handling. The hansgrohe S41 range specifically describes reinforcement beneath the tap ledge. Check what the selected model provides and which fixings should accompany it.
Before accepting the kitchen, try swivelling the spout and pulling out the spray. Unusual movement deserves an installation check. Tightening, support parts and worktop should be assessed together by the installer according to the instructions.
04
Accept a material that develops with use and care for it
Everyday stainless steel changes visually. Agree with the client on the appearance expected after use, not only on delivery day. Rinsing, wiping and approved products help distinguish surface deposits from damage to the material.
Deante’s steel-care instructions specifically exclude metal sponges and unsuitable abrasive or aggressive cleaners. Keep the manual for the sink actually installed. A recipe used on another metal is not automatically suitable for its finish.
Before you decide
- Compare equivalent configurations.
- Read the exact reference’s characteristics.
- Check the mixer support.
- Keep the care instructions.
The essentials
Your questions, our guidance.
Is a stainless steel sink impossible to scratch?
No. Marks can appear with use; visibility depends on the surface and handling. Follow the care instructions.
Is thickness enough to choose a sink?
No. Dimensions, construction, reinforcement, installation and finish also need consideration.
