A brushed finish is more than a less shiny colour. Its grain, direction and reflection change how a tap is perceived. To choose between steel, nickel, titanium or gold tones, examine the object under light and within the project palette.
01
Separate material, colour and surface appearance
A commercial name may describe a colour without identifying the material of the whole tap. Request the complete reference and product sheet. Brushed describes an appearance but is not enough to identify substrate or finishing process.
This distinction helps when coordinating brands. Two products named brushed steel or brushed nickel can have different shades. Verify their relationship visually, especially when close together on the same basin top.
02
Observe the metal in motion
Rotate the sample and view it front-on and from the side. Directional grain does not reflect light uniformly. A curved spout can therefore look different from a flat plate even when their stated finishes are similar.
Compare pieces under the intended lighting, not only showroom light. Adjacent coverings also reflect their colour onto metal. A green, beige or brown background can change the overall impression of the tap.
03
Coordinate with the tile's texture
Brushed metal can complement matt stone without adding numerous shiny points. Against a luminous glaze it creates a textural contrast. Choose according to the prominence you want the taps to have in the composition.
The Deante Silia collection includes finishes named brushed steel, brushed gold, Titanium and Nero. This variety allows several atmospheres to be explored through a shared formal language. Then verify the finish offered for each exact fitting.
04
Plan care and associated pieces
A brushed surface is not automatically mark-free or maintenance-free. Consult the manufacturer's instructions and avoid conclusions based solely on appearance. Deposit colour, lighting and wiping frequency also influence what is visible.
Before ordering, list the waste, visible trap, accessories, profiles and WC plate. Some can stay neutral; others need precise coordination. This hierarchy avoids pursuing unnecessary identity in barely visible pieces.
Before you decide
- Identify the complete finish reference.
- Compare a flat surface and curved spout.
- Observe the metal beside the tiles.
- Check care and associated accessories.
The essentials
Your questions, our guidance.
Does brushed mean solid stainless steel?
No. Consult the product sheet for the material and surface treatment. A finish name is not enough.
Do brushed metals conceal every mark?
No. Visibility depends on finish, deposits and light. Care should still follow the manufacturer's recommendations.
