In an uncluttered bathroom, a few millimetres can change how a detail is perceived. Geberit Sigma40 uses a 4 mm-thick plate and restrained design. Its decorative interest emerges in relation to the wall, tapware and other lines in the room.
01
Understand the difference between slim and flush
Sigma40’s small thickness reduces its presence in profile. That does not automatically mean a flush-to-wall installation. A project seeking that effect needs a solution explicitly designed for it.
Look at the plate from the entrance and from the side. On a well-lit wall, its outline and shadow become visible. A calm surface around the control lets its slimness be appreciated without competing decoration.
02
Choose the shape with the rest of the room
Sigma40 is available with round or angular buttons. Round buttons can relate to a basin or curved spout; angular ones extend straighter lines. You need not repeat the same geometry everywhere to create a coherent composition.
Choose on a complete WC-wall elevation. A model admired alone may look different below a shelf, beside a vertical joint or within a pattern. Alignment matters as much as button shape.
03
Coordinate finish with surfaces and metals
The range allows different appearances, including glass and metal depending on the reference. A finish close to the wall can soften the plate’s presence; a metal related to the tap connects bathroom zones.
Geberit also presents customised metal finishes for Sigma40. Their selection requires precise verification of reference, appearance and project availability. Matching another brand cannot be inferred solely from the metal’s name.
04
Check the wall before approving the order
The manufacturer’s square Sigma40 specification addresses concealed Sigma cisterns and mentions a wall-covering thickness of at least 15 mm. The installer must read that indication alongside installation instructions and the actual construction detail.
Do not leave plate selection until tiling is finished. Identify the cistern, wall configuration and clearance needed for removal. A discreet plate remains technical equipment whose access must be preserved.
Before you decide
- Distinguish small thickness from flush mounting.
- Compare round and angular buttons on the wall.
- Approve the finish with the tap.
- Check cistern, covering and maintenance access.
The essentials
Your questions, our guidance.
Is Sigma40 compatible with an Alpha cistern?
The cited specification concerns Sigma cisterns. Do not assume Alpha compatibility; identify the cistern and choose a plate designed for it.
Is a 4 mm plate recessed flush with the tiles?
Not automatically. Plate thickness and flush installation are separate characteristics to verify in the system documentation.
