The best kitchen tap is one you use without thinking. It leaves room for a saucepan, reaches sink corners and does not obstruct a window. Before colour, five checks help relate the product to the real kitchen.
01
Look at the sink before the spout
Spout height determines part of the working space, while reach affects where water lands. A tall spout cannot compensate for inadequate reach. Draw the mixer at its exact position on the worktop or sink deck.
With two bowls, examine rotation and access to both. With one large bowl, consider rinsing sides and dishes. The choice depends on complete geometry and jet direction, not merely spout diameter.
02
A pull-out spray needs space underneath
A pull-out spray can help rinsing and handling large objects. Its hose and return mechanism must, however, move freely below the sink. A bin, drawer or badly placed trap can obstruct this movement.
Draw the cabinet’s internal volume. Check the spray’s exact functions on the product sheet too: spray modes, control and operating conditions. Do not infer specifications from similar appearance.
03
Window, splashback and handle: check collisions
Draw the window opening in plan and section. If the sash hits the tap, reposition it or investigate a specifically suitable product with its instructions. Overall height matters here as much as working height beneath the spout.
Near a splashback, check handle travel. A rear control may need space that is invisible in a front photograph. Confirm this before drilling the worktop.
04
Coordinate metals and prepare maintenance
Sink, waste and tap remain within one field of view. Closely related finishes can create harmony; intentional difference can create contrast. Avoid an approximate match between shades that merely look identical on screen.
Choose with care instructions to hand. In a busy kitchen, access for wiping around the base matters as much as finish. Compare Deante models and other kitchen collections offered by EDIFIS using this list of tasks.
Before you decide
- Compare working height and spout reach.
- Draw the window opening.
- Keep the hose path clear.
- Confirm connections and maintenance.
The essentials
Your questions, our guidance.
Is a pull-out spray useful with a small sink?
It can be, but usefulness depends on tasks and available space beneath the worktop.
Can a tall mixer be placed in front of a window?
Only if opening remains possible or a specifically suitable solution is planned and approved.
