Utility-room sink: choose a bowl for household cleaning tasks.

Laundry, buckets and rinsing: plan a utility-room water point with a bowl, tap and clearances suited to the tasks you actually perform.

A utility-room water point serves different tasks from the kitchen: soaking laundry, rinsing objects or filling a bucket. Before choosing a small sink by default, describe those uses. Usable depth, taps and clearances need coordination with appliances and storage.

01

Start with the objects to be washed

Measure the largest regularly handled object and the space required to lower and remove it. A deep bowl may help soaking, but becomes less comfortable if its base requires excessive bending.

Show the working height for the intended users. Keep a landing area for a basket or wet laundry rather than relying solely on the washing-machine top.

02

Check the tap with the bowl

Check clearance below the spout, reach and handle movement. A bucket must fit below the tap and be removed without striking a shelf or wall-mounted fitting.

A spray may ease rinsing where the product is suitable. Its hose and movement must remain compatible with furniture, trap and stored items; verify the choice in plan and section.

03

Coordinate neighbouring appliances

Draw appliance doors open and show access to connections. A well-positioned bowl at rest may obstruct loading or servicing when the room is in use.

Have sink and appliance connections checked separately. The number of available inlets on a component does not validate the complete drainage arrangement; the professional must confirm the selected configuration.

04

Choose a surface you can maintain

Check the cleaning products permitted for the surface, waste and tap. Utility use does not mean that every solvent or detergent can be used without consequences.

Keep laundry and household-cleaning accessories separate from those used for food. For your Tunisian project, ask EDIFIS for a selection based on these tasks and confirm each offered reference’s intended use.

Before you decide

  1. Measure the objects handled.
  2. Test usable spout clearance.
  3. Draw appliances open.
  4. Confirm care and connections.

The essentials

Your questions, our guidance.

Can a kitchen sink be used in a utility room?

It depends on its intended purpose and your tasks. Confirm usable dimensions, resistance to cleaning products and installation conditions with the manufacturer.

Is a very deep bowl always necessary?

No. Extra depth is useful only when it serves the tasks and remains comfortable for users.
